Migration guide: Shopify

Shopify B2B to Crate

Without Shopify Plus you get up to 3 B2B catalogs. Plus starts at $2,300/month. Crate gives every account its own prices on any Shopify plan, from $50/month.

Shopify B2B runs wholesale from Shopify itself. Without Plus you are limited to three active catalogs. Crate connects to the same store and gives every account its own prices on any Shopify plan.

Why businesses pick Crate over Shopify B2B

  • Plus costs from $2,300/month for unlimited B2B catalogs. Crate Wholesale is $50-$150/month and works on any Shopify plan.
  • Individual customer prices for every account, plus tiers, quantity breaks and category discounts, with no catalog limit.
  • A branded wholesale portal on your own domain, beside the Shopify store you keep for retail.
  • Standing orders (Growth). Shopify lists subscriptions as incompatible with native B2B.
  • Invoices with payment terms, QuickBooks Online sync and roaster tools: roast weekdays, cutoffs and a production sheet.

Native Shopify B2B may still fit if you are already on Plus and want everything in one admin.

Switching is quick: four steps

Crate imports your Shopify, Square or Clover catalog, and reads customer and product spreadsheets in any column layout. Run both tools side by side until it looks right.

  1. 01

Connect your store or upload products

Connect Shopify, Square or Clover and your catalog syncs into Crate, variations included. No store? Upload a product spreadsheet with a name and price for each item.

  2. 02

    Upload your customer list

Upload the customer export as a CSV, in whatever column layout your old tool produced. Crate matches the columns for you. Each wholesale account needs a business name and an email. Choose their payment terms, such as Net 30, as you import.

  3. 03

    Set each account's prices

Recreate your price lists and individual customer prices in Crate. Send us your price export and we will help you set them up.

  4. 04

Invite buyers when you are ready

Run both tools side by side while you check prices. When it looks right, send each buyer an invite to their portal. They set a password and order from their own portal.

Keep in mind

  • Percentage-based catalog adjustments are not in Shopify's catalog export, so note them before you switch.
  • Unpublish B2B catalogs after buyers move so they see one set of prices.
